Our goal is to keep Sheboygan County well-fed and moving forward!
According the USDA, 27% of all the food produced each year is lost at the retail, consumer and food service levels. That’s about 1.5 tons of food per year for every man, woman and child in the United States who faces hunger! That’s about 263,013,699 pounds of food each day. Much of that is surplus food. It is nutritious and edible. While that food is being wasted, there are over 37 million Americans who struggle daily to get enough to eat. Nearly half of those are children, and a large number are elderly.
There is not just one cause of hunger, which means there is not just one solution. One thing is clear: the problem of hunger is solvable. It isn’t an issue of producing more food because we produce more than enough already to feed everyone. It is an issue of will.
The simple truth is that hunger exists because we tolerate it. Every American can do something to end hunger in the United States. Involvement begins with being informed, and our goal is to help get Sheboygan County residents informed on the issues, big and small.
We hope you will check this website from time to time for interesting and relevant information on the issues of hunger that face our neighbors, state and nation. Working towards ending hunger locally is the first step in eliminating the global problem.
